Descrizione progetto

This project combines the experience of the DREAM healthcare centre model with the specific skills of the neurologists of the Mariani Foundation in order to deal with epilepsy, a chronic disease that is very common in Africa. Over 10 million people in Africa especially minors have epilepsy and HIV/AIDS, malaria, problems at birth and malnutrition are some of the factors that determine this disease.

The main aim of the project is to create two centres for treating epilepsy, one in Malawi and one in the Central African Republic. The centres will have all the necessary equipment, including a video electroencephalogram, which is essential for diagnosing and treating the disease, and there will be specialised personnel, who have been trained on online or face-to-face courses.

Areas involved: Balaka DREAM centre (Malawi) Bangui DREAM centre (Central African Republic)
