Descrizione progetto

The Community of S. Egidio responds to the need to support the population hard hit by the consequences of Cyclone Idai in the province of Sofala, in total continuity with the first emergency interventions brought to Beira already in 2019.

Ninguém fica sozinho! will improve access to basic health and WASH services for approximately 1,000 families (more than 3,600 people) living in the Mutua and Savane IDP camps in Sofala province, in Dondo.

Actions to improve the health and WASH infrastructures of the two camps of Mutua and Savane are foreseen, as well as activities to raise awareness and employment inclusion of the camp population (cash for work), awareness campaigns and basic health education (HIV, COVID and other communicable diseases). Finally, a small workshop to start up community masks will also be planned for both camps.

In addition, an important part of the project is the activation of a team of health workers who will visit the resettlement camps weekly to improve access to health for vulnerable people, particularly pregnant women, children and the elderly who cannot travel to the nearest health center.

This project aims to support the Mozambican population severely affected by the disastrous consequences of cyclones IDAI and Kenneth.

Place of intervention: Savane and Mutua
