On 26 January, the first course for activists of the DREAM programme in Guinea came to a close in Conakry. .

Thirty-four women and five men attended the basic health education course..

Throughout the week, intensely attentive and motivated, they deepened their knowledge, learning more about HIV, nutrition and the weaning of babies.

For many, the course provided an opportunity to look at their own disease as well as that of others, not with despair but with renewed hope, strengthened by the concrete tools of knowledge and dignity offered by the course.

It was an especially precious opportunity in a country where AIDS is scarcely mentioned as yet.

The course consisted of five full days of exams, lessons on the nutritional value of foods, and some practical tests.

The participants learned how to carry out anthropometrical assessments of patients and to prepare the first meals of baby food for weaning.
