A Rotary Club Donation for the DREAM Centre
On September 8, the DREAM Center of Conakry organized an event to thank the members of the Rotary Club of Conakry.
Thanks to a donation made by the Rotary Foundation, organized by the 2080 District of Rotary International (Rome, Lazio, Sardegna) in partnership with the Rotary Club of North East Rome and Rotary Club Conakry (Doyen), 4,020 packets of Triomune 30, an antiretroviral for AIDS treatment, were donated.
The Rotary delegation was welcomed by DREAM staff and patients. Representatives of the Health Ministry and the National Program for AIDS Prevention and Treatment were also present.
The President of Rotary Conakry thanked the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Director of the DREAM Center for their commitment and the quality of the treatment, offered for free, to thousands of sick people.
The National Director of the Department for Public Health stated that this donation had been made to people who sincerely cared for the health of each individual.
The ceremony ended with a touching testimonial. Fatoumata, a DREAM activist and mother had received, on that day, her daughter’s final test results for the prevention program. The test results were “negative” indicating that the child was healthy.
“Today, both my husband and I are undergoing treatment here at the DREAM Center. We are now certain that this illness can be beaten. Today my daughter is “negative” and for this reason, I will never stop thanking the Community of Sant’Egidio and all the people who hoped and fought by our side.”
