On September 1st the DREAM Programme’s Criança centre in Maputo received a much appreciated visit from Italy.

During his official visit to Mozambique, the Minister for Economic Development, the Hon. Claudio Scajola, wanted to visit one the Programme’s centres.

He was accompanied by his wife, the Ambassador Vattani, President ICE and a large delegation of Italian businessmen interested in investing in Mozambique.

The Minister visited the centre and the laboratory and then stopped to speak with several EU DREAM activists who described their experience in assisting the many sick children undergoing treatment.

A group of children from the School of Peace at the Nutritional Centre of Matola thanked the Minister’s wife for her gift of some rucksacks complete with pencil bags.

The Minister thanked everyone for the warm welcome he had received and underlined the importance of the Community of Saint Egidio’s work in Mozambique, promising his support for the Programme in order that many other children in the country may be cured.

From the Community of Saint Egidio for the morning visit to the Criança Centre saying it had been one of the most beautiful and meaningful points of his visit.

He thanked the Community for the great value and importance of their presence and work in Mozambique and Africa of which, he said, Italy is very proud. He then asked Italian businesses to support the DREAM Programme.
