A great event took place last October 22 in Masanga.
The new DREAM center was launched at the presence of a festive population, civil authorities, donors and the Bishop of the Diocese of Musoma.
Masanga, located in far north Tanzania is a poor village of farmers, small merchants and miners from a nearby gold mine.

There are no paved roads or electricity. People live with the essential. Yet, thanks to the courage and determination of the Daughters of Charity as well as to the solid friendship with the Community of Sant’Egidio, about a year ago the construction of a DREAM center became real, following faithfully the model already used by DREAM.

The DREAM center is the most beautiful and functional structure of the whole district.

The representatives of the institutions who participated to the opening ceremony were astonished by its accuracy and beauty. There were inevitable comparisons with the health facilities in the country, including those of the capital: “We have never seen such a beautiful center. Not even in the capital” many have said.
The gratitude for Dreams’ work was unanimous

The community considers the center as the most important thing they have. It is several days that organizational meetings and division of tasks take place. The opening party was possible thanks to the contribution of the entire population.

The Bishop of Musoma recalled that DREAM was mentioned also during the African Synod last year in Rome and today he was able to see for himself the solidness of its results, even in such a rural and remote area.

The center has a laboratory where it is possible to execute all the needed tests to monitor the treatment, a few rooms for medical visits, collection of blood samples, distribution of nutritional packs, a pharmacy, two storerooms and a big reception room.

The center is totally computerized and linked via satellite to the Internet, in order to ensure a constant distance aid for the treatment of patients and the different activities of telemedicine.

The party was very joyful and it also included a small theatrical show as well as choirs of the children of the surrounding area.

At the end, the Bishop blessed the center and after the official speeches a big feast, cooked and prepared by the local community and opened to the entire population, was held outside.

With this center DREAM continues its expansion in Africa including the remotest and most rural areas, taking the good news all over: together we can defeat AIDS.
