It’s big, modern and full of green the new Dream Center opened Friday, July 8 in Kinshasa, the densely populated – more than 10 million inhabitants – capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the presence of President Joseph Kabila, the Archbishop of Kinshasa , Card. Laurent Monsengwo Pasiniya, the Minister of Health and the diplomatic corps.

The Centre is "a sign of love – as said Marco Impagliazzo – to this great country which is the DRC, in which we are proud to have brothers and friends."

Sant’Egidio, in fact, is close to the Congo for many years, those difficult of the search for peace, and recent ones, where it works for the stabilization of democracy and development.

Kinshasa is the second center to open in the country, on the outskirts of the city where there are no health facilities. "The center talks about the future, hope, life and joy – also said Marco Impagliazzo – . We are here to give life and hope to many Congolese. The pandemic can be defeated."

The inscription "ici tout est gratuit", "Everything here is free," is posted everywhere in the center and is regarded with awe by the people, accustomed to pay much for every service, from education to healthcare, from drugs to food and transport, daily grief of a population exhausted by a busy city and stingy in perspectives.

After the ribbon cutting by President Kabila and the blessing of the Cardinal, the many guests have visited the center and the laboratory of molecular biology.
