Last September 24 and 25 an in-depth Workshop about the work carried out by the laboratories linked to the DREAM Program in Mozambique was held at the “Centro para a Criança”.

All those working at the laboratory of molecular biology of the “Centro para a Criança”, both from the analytical and administrative departments, were present. Furthermore, representatives of the laboratory of Quelimane and staff from DREAM detached at the laboratory of the Machava Hospital also attended the seminar.

The topics covered in the workshop ranged from the latest results of DREAM at an international level to procedural and logistical problems specific to the program in Mozambique.

A great deal of interest was raised by the update of the latest international guidelines for AIDS as well as the latest methods of molecular biology that are beginning to spread out.

Inventory management of laboratories, which is already a model for other countries, and the system of internal and external quality control were topics also addressed during the meeting.

Participation was lively and all expressed the wish that such meetings may be repeated periodically.
