Health for All in Kenya – Training and Integrated Healthcare Services in DREAM Centres
Descrizione progetto
In the counties of Meru and Tharaka-Nithi, Kenya, this project aims to bring healthcare closer to people by improving access to care, enhancing the quality of services and strengthening the skills of healthcare workers.
The initiative builds on the experience of the DREAM Programme in Kenya and on close collaboration with local health facilities. At its core, the project focuses on strengthening staff capacities and improving service organisation, so that each patient can receive more continuous and higher-quality care.
To achieve this, the project combines training with hands-on support: courses and refresher sessions, weekly clinical mentorship, supervision and continuous accompaniment within health centres. Alongside treatment, strong emphasis is also placed on prevention, through health promotion activities, screening and early diagnosis.
Special attention is given to HIV and TB, chronic conditions (such as diabetes and hypertension) and the management of comorbidities, as well as women’s health and prevention, including cervical cancer prevention.
The project is integrated with existing services, building on what is already in place and fostering sustainable, long-term change.
