Tanzania: Starting the building of the laboratory of molecular biology of the DREAM centre in Arusha
At Usa River, in the outskirts of Arusha, Northern Tanzania, inside the hospital of the Holy Ghost Fathers, near the centre opened by the Community of Sant’Egidio in June 2005, the building of a laboratory of molecular biology has recently started. This structure will empower the services offered by the DREAM centre. The new lab will allow the execution of all the necessary tests for the diagnosis and control of HIV/AIDS, and many new patients from the Arusha region will be able to be treated. The building is scheduled to be completed for December 2006.
Usa River is not just the only DREAM centre which will grow in the next months in Tanzania …. Also in Iringa, in Central Tanzania, a laboratory of molecular biology will be built in the next weeks, and a new and larger DREAM structure will rise on the ground recently bought by the Community.
The beginning of these constructions at Usa River and Iringa has become possible thanks to the official acknowledgment granted to the two DREAM centres by the government and local authorities as centres for the treatment of HIV/AIDS.
