IMG_0574There has been great participation at the “Share the Challenge” conference, organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio in Maputo on June 11th. The DREAM and BRAVO! programs were at the center of the works; the mozambican institutions of the Ministry of Justice and Health were present, along with many national and international entrepreneurs, ambassadors and representatives of foreign foundations who support the Community through the two Programs.

The history of present and past collaborations and a look towards the future were dealt with under many aspects; there was a great pleasure in all participants when it was announced that in this past year no child in the country was born afflicted by HIV in DREAM’s program for vertical prevention.

A goal reached beyond every hope that has shown how DREAM was able to obtain extraordinary results, better than those that occur in Europe and the USA.

For the participants it represented a further demonstration of the importance of their support and the decision to continue working side by side to give birth to healthy children.

Particular attention was given to the growing african sanitary problems, which means that today’s scenario requires new efforts to face the “global health” challenges. DREAM doesn’t back away from such challenges and needs the help of everybody. The partners of DREAM in Mozambique are many, including the Swiss Cooperation, the Cooperation of the Principality of Monaco, the Italian Cooperation,  the Japanese Cooperation, foundations such as AIDS Stiftung,  Merck for Mothers and many others.

The many interventions from the donors have strengthened the awareness that the partnership, the working together, the creation of networks, are the only path to overcome the challenges that the african societies find themselves dealing with.
