The announcement of Italy’s new contribution to the Global Fund — 150 million euros between 2026 and 2028 — reaffirms the country’s determination to remain at the forefront of global health.

In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recalled the work of the DREAM Centers of the Community of Sant’Egidio, active in ten African countries. It is a recognition that reflects how, over the years, the DREAM model has helped build solid and accessible health services, capable of restoring care and dignity to thousands of people.

“Italy’s action against communicable diseases continues to be complemented by bilateral initiatives, such as support for the DREAM Centers of the Community of Sant’Egidio — centers of excellence operating in ten African countries and to which Italian Cooperation has already allocated significant contributions in recent years.” — Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

For DREAM, this acknowledgment is an encouragement to continue along the path begun more than twenty-three years ago: combining clinical expertise, training of local staff, and high-quality services.
