This project aims to increase and support the activities that take place in the Aina healthcare centre and dispensary in Meru County. The centre offers patients basic care and specific HIV/AIDS care. In line with the DREAM model, the staff are trained to deal with malnutrition, screening and treatment of tuberculosis and cervical cancer, prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, and treatment and care of people with HIV/AIDS and opportunistic diseases. In addition, the healthcare staff and the Community of Sant’Egidio volunteers also carry out activities to raise the awareness of the local community, including health education initiatives, in particular for women and children.
