With a population of over 32 million, Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world (ranked 185th out of 191 in the 2021 Human Development Index). The health system is fragile, with only 8 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants, a life expectancy of 59 years, and high maternal and infant mortality rates. Health resources are scarce and often unevenly distributed.

Project Objectives

The project aims to strengthen access to free, high-quality healthcare services for vulnerable populations in the urban areas of Beira and Manga. It focuses on the prevention and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and nutritional support.

Main Activities

  • Provision of free socio-health services at two DREAM Centres (Beira and Manga Chingussura)

  • HIV screening and treatment

  • Cervical cancer prevention

  • Nutritional assistance for children and vulnerable families

  • Community-based health and nutrition education
