Education, nutrition and hope: DREAM nutritional centers for a better future
In these times marked by the pandemic and harsh economic crisis, the DREAM nutritional centers of the Community of Sant’Egidio in Malawi and Mozambique have never ceased to provide their invaluable contribution to local communities.
They have increasingly become a well-established point of reference for children, families, and the entire community. DREAM centers combat malnutrition and also promote education, peace, hospitality, and play, helping children fully experience their childhood.
Another fundamental aspect is the health of the child; in these nutritional centers, the same healthcare personnel from nearby DREAM care and prevention centers regularly conduct medical check-up visits to prevent potential health issues.
Furthermore, in our centers, to counteract school dropout rates, children between the ages of 3 and 6 regularly participate in preschool activities. This practice allows their older siblings to continue their education, preventing them from having to take on the responsibility of caring for the younger ones.
