In Malawi, a wonderful initiative has been bearing unexpected fruit for several years: the G.R.A.S.S. II project, which involves organic gardens managed by HIV-positive patients of the DREAM Program.

With the continuous support received, the project has exceeded all expectations, resulting in the establishment of 60 gardens across Malawi. These gardens provide employment opportunities for about 900 farmers—approximately 15 per garden—and directly benefit more than 5,000 people.

The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the agricultural resilience of people living with HIV, equipping them with the skills needed to combat the food insecurity that affects much of Malawi’s population.

Beyond the nutritional benefits for managing HIV, these gardens symbolize new hope for those affected by the disease—people who once believed they had no future and felt marginalized by society. Today, thanks to this project, they find redemption, proving that the strength of community can brighten even the darkest moments.
